Northern Lights, Northern Mission: Kicking Off Seedling Season with Purpose

Each spring, as the snow retreats and the boreal forest begins to stir, a familiar rhythm returns to our team at Wapiti Carriers. It’s the start of seedling season—and for us, that means it’s time to roll.

This year, as in years past, we’ve hauled close to one million seedlings into northern Saskatchewan, along with the camp infrastructure needed to support crews working in remote terrain. It’s a massive logistical undertaking, but it’s one that we’re proud to support year after year.

Why? Because this work matters.

The seedlings we move today will help reforest fire-affected and harvested areas—playing a critical role in the health of Canada’s northern ecosystems. Reforestation isn’t just about trees. It’s about restoring biodiversity, protecting watersheds, and ensuring the forest continues to sustain the people and industries that depend on it.

At Wapiti Carriers, we specialize in hauling deck freight into hard-to-reach places, and reforestation season is a powerful example of that work in action.
